To do this, the bark is usually completely removed from the trunk to destroy the bark beetle or not to offer it a habitat. However, the removal of wood bark prevents the renaturalization of the forest and leads to a massive loss of biodiversity. As a compromise to complete debarking, it is recommended to cut the logs. The bark beetle needs an area of about 5 cm² to feel at ease, cutting the trunk deprives the bark beetle of its habitat without severely limiting the renaturalization of the forest.
